Everyone. And I mean EVERYONE needs to read this book.
I was blessed with the gift of my testimony. I never had to really work for it. I always knew that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was and is true. I didn't have to read and pray for hours...I just knew. And I can't express how grateful I am for this gift. My testimony has gotten me through countless dark moments in my life and I know I would not be where I am today without it.
However, with this strength that Father in Heaven has blessed me with, I have developed many weaknesses. I lack understanding in a lot of areas because I never had to work for that understanding. I also lack in a lot of areas such as being consistent with my daily prayer and scripture studies. Over the past few years, these areas in which I lack have proven to be a stumbling block in my spirituality. I have often struggled with developing a real relationship with Heavenly Father. Whenever I prayed, my prayers were monotonous, and repetitive. I didn't know how to really have a conversation with Him. And I never really understood faith and the power that it could have in my life.
Enter Drawing on the Powers of Heaven by Grant Von Harrison. This book (a mere 90-something pages) has been teaching me the power of faith and how to apply it, strengthening my spirituality, and basically has been changing my life. You may be thinking, "Wow. That's a bit dramatic, don't you think?" But it's not. I feel for the first time in my life that my prayers are meaningful and effective. I am and have always been a very independent person. To a fault. I never let myself really ask God for help. I am finally (after way too many years) learning how to ask the Lord for the things I desire and to rely on Him and have faith that He will help me realize my righteous desires. The principles taught in this book are real and powerful.
I highly recommend this book to everyone. It will help you greatly in so many areas of your life.
